KIMURA is a gorgeous panelled collar-necklace in lustrous mother of pearl, like a moonbeam gently falling around your neck. Each panel is engraved with illustrations of tumbling cobnuts, bursting from their husks, in a bounteous celebration of autumn. The etched design is inked in black shellac & resin, and the precious pearl panels are wrapped in recycled Fine & Sterling Silver.

With this collection,, I celebrate the turning seasons. For me the perfect totem animal to represent the transition through autumn in to winter is the Squirrel; encouraging us to enjoy the fruits of the fading summer, whilst gathering what we need to see us through the dark months ahead.
My new designs feature beautiful pieces of Mother of Pearl, etched with my illustrations of scampering and nesting squirrels, blackberries & cobnuts, along with some stripped-down ever-green geometric patterns. I frame these little pearlescent artworks in hand-crafted bezels, of fine & sterling eco silver, and in doing so seamlessly mix cutting edge laser-engraving technology with age-old silversmithing techniques.
The result is a collection of graphic and eye-catching designs, from statement pieces to tiny, gift-able charms, which are delicate, flattering and a joy to wear.
Mother of pearl is the lustrous iridescent lining, Nacre, found in many ocean shells, specifically the Pinctada Maxima, or Pacific Silver-lipped Oyster; literally the mother of famed South Sea Pearls.
Nacre has long been associated with the moon due its alluring luminous lustre, and because the moon governs the tides that wash these beautiful shells up on beaches around the world. Both are thought to be imbued with divine feminine energy, and prized as such. The wearing of Mother of pearl has been said to heighten intuition, spark imagination, and offer a sense of nurturing protection, promoting emotional clarity & inner peace. To honour this special relationship each piece in the collection is named after one of the moon’s craters.
